This quote is often falsely attributed to author Mark Twain, however the earliest documented publication of the quote is in H. Jackson Brown Jr.'s literary work P. S. I Love You: When Mom Wrote, She Always Saved the Best for Last. (Rutledge Hill Press, 1990). Brown's book is a collection of quotes and maxims attributed to his mother.
